Cat Lake Mine Property
Property Size:238 hectares
Location:The property consists of mining leases located northeast of
Winnipeg and along the border between Manitoba and Ontario. Roads
exist to the site and rail is located within 50 miles of the site.
History:
- Ore was stockpiled from four levels up until 1957. A 1,000 t/day
concentrator was installed on the property but never operational at time of closing in 1957.
- The orebody, averaging 3.6 to 27.4 metres in width, is associated
with a gabbro complex. A 1971 estimate (Manitoba Dept. of Mines) was
estimated at 2,000,000 tons at 0.33% Ni and 0.75% Cu ($169.63 value per tonne and NSR value $77.63 per tonne after mining/milling/transport deductions).
- A 1976 estimate (Manitoba Dept. of Mines) of 585,860 tonnes
averaging 0.20% Ni and 0.53% Cu ($119.64 value per tonne and NSR value $27.64 per tonne after mining/milling/transport deductions).
